The Azulik AlUla resort, commissioned by the RCU (Royal Commission for AlUla), is located in the secret canyons of AlUla. The proposal includes a 25,000 sqm GEA development comprised of 76 villas, amenities and a museum with varied room typologies that offer different experiences.
The seven villa types share generally similar construction methodologies but each employ a unique and innovative finish material palette that carry individual qualities and material stories. The R&D research team was tasked with two primary goals -- (1) identify and employ contextually and culturally relevant material selections and fabrication methodologies; and (2) develop a bespoke salt composite material that can be utilized as a celebrated finish material for the Salt Villa.
